What is ISO certification?
ISO is an independent, non-governmental international organization with a membership of 167 national standards bodies.
Through its members, it brings together experts to share knowledge and develop voluntary, consensus-based, market relevant International Standards that support innovation and provide solutions to global challenges.
Certification can be a useful tool to add credibility, by demonstrating that your product or service meets the expectations of your customers. For some industries, certification is a legal or contractual requirement.
By becoming ISO certified, your business gains a similar level of international recognition by meeting the standards that are important to your industry.
In New Zealand the main certifications achieved are:
- ISO 9001 - assessing your quality management system
- ISO 14001 - assessing your environmental planning system
- ISO 22000 - assessing food control plans, food safety plans, food safety certificates, food control plan staff training
- ISO 45001 - assessing occupational health and safety management systems
Is being ISO certified worth it?
Being ISO certified is well worth the effort and time put into it. Not only will your organization be more efficient and quality-driven, but your employees and customers will also see a significant, positive difference!
